The Texts domain

During the three year tenure of the project we aim to complete the morphemic analysis of a restricted group of texts, and to lay the groundwork for completing, in future years, the graphemic analysis of a larger corpus.

At this point, this domain is not being actively worked on. A “stub” website entitled Linguistic Analysis of Akkadian includes preliminary research.

The hub site: Linguistic Analysis of Akkadian

The website Linguistic Analysis of Akkadian serves as a hub for other websites dealing with various aspects of Akkadian, in particular with graphemics, morphemics and syntax, in different degrees and in different dialects. Two projects are envisaged for the current phase of Cybernetica Mesopotamica: the Ebla personal names and two select groups of Old Babylonian letters.

The Ebla personal names

The Ebla personal names were analyzed by Joseph Pagan in his volume. They have been given in spreadsheet format in Ebla personal names. They will be reformatted to make them more accessible for personal use.

Old Babylonian royal letters: morphemic analysis

The full corpus of Old Babylonian royal letters from the chancery of Babylon has been analyzed for morphology and syntax. At the moment it is formatted only as a spreadsheet database. We will be converting it to the HTML format in the latter part of the Cybernetica Mesopotamica project. This project will be undertaken by John L. Hayes and Terri-Lynn Tanaka in a later phase of the project.

Old Babylonian letters: graphemic analysis

A large corpus of Old Babylonian letters (other than royal from Babylon) from the chancery of Babylon has been analyzed with graphemic categorization. At the moment it is formatted only as a spreadsheet database. We will be converting it to the HTML format in the latter part of the Cybernetica Mesopotamica project. This project will be undertaken by John L. Hayes and Terri-Lynn Tanaka in a later phase of the project.
